“Learning to Love,” by Shellilyn Marie
Dear Reader,
You must be cautioned about the book you are about to read. The story you have chosen to entertain you will be extremely unpleasant. Although there may be light at the end of the tunnel, please know the depth of the memories shared from a survivor are not pleasing. Although, the goal is to share this story with the world, please prepare for what you are about to embrace. And with Love and Light:
“Learning to Love” is about a young woman’s rise up against injustices in foster care by memoirs of personal experience surviving 14 year of abuse, torture, molestation, rape, trafficking, neglect, starvation, and racism. Being a biracial child raised in an all-white home with over 170 children in our country town, was not easy on top of the other challenges we faced as fosters.
Memories of hogties, fist fight, belt lashes, beatings, burns, extension cords whips, all and more, at the very hands of our loving parents. I really didn’t understand just how big the web was until I was an adult trying to sue and was threatened “it’s a can of worms we don’t want to open.” Injustices in foster care must end and now is the time to take “A Rise Up” to inspire change to stop this epidemic.
This book autobiographical novel shares life experiences on a journey to find self-love, sanity, hope, and life, while also exposing the corruption of the government systems of child welfare and trafficking.
Thank you for supporting this mission!
With love & light! <3
